Tri-State Bird Rescue

For the past few years, Sigma Alpha has volunteered at the Tri-State Bird Rescue Open House each spring. The event is aimed to teach the community about wildlife rehabilitation and nature conservation. Multiple organizations and vendors attend the open house to support Tristate and advocate for conservational efforts. Additionally, community members can tour the bird rescue facilities and observe various species of birds during bird showings. At the event, sisters assist by helping in set up, activities for children such as face painting, and helping with clean up. For many members in the community, the open house is a rare opportunity to expose their children to wildlife conservation first hand. Volunteering at this event was very rewarding and an excellent way to give back to the community. This year, I helped at the face painting station along with other sisters and got to interact with children for the day. It was exciting to see the children’s enthusiasm about birds and wildlife. Spending time with the children demonstrated how important it is for organizations like Tristate and groups such as Sigma Alpha to educate the next generation of nature conservation advocates. It is truly inspiring to see how simply volunteering your time can make such an impact.
